This orchestra piece has been commissioned by the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg and premiered by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Würzburg on May 25 and 26, 2006.

The concert was part of a “Faust”-week and the piece was performed between Richard Wagners Faust Ouverture and Franz Liszt’s Faust Symphony.

The piece was introduced by the artistic director Sebastian Hanusa (who knew more about it than the composer). The orchestra and the young conductor Stefan Geiger made it an impressive event.

The 10-minute piece is structured in three “scenes”: 1) The Contract (Faust and Mephisto”, 2) The Easter-walk, and 3) The Passage to Hell. At the end the composer was offered (instead of the ritual flowers) a marvellous bottle of Franconian Boxbeutel-wine.
