Grüss mir das Leben

1973

Soprano and piano

GRÜSS MIR DAS LEBEN was composed in Santiago de Chile, December 1973, shortly after the murderous coup d’état of September 11 of that year. The text is by Edwin Hoernle, a German priest who later on became a communist. As a performance in Chile was completely impossible (we only made a private try out), the first performance took place in Amsterdam at the beginning of 1974.
