Louïze Labé (* 1520 – † 1566) was active in a circle of Lyonnais poets and humanists grouped around the figure of Maurice Scève. Her 24 sonnets were printed in 1555. They belong to the most intense of Renaissance lyric poetry.
The seven sonnets I have chosen are my favourites. I opted for an extreme reduced instrumental accompaniment in the spirit of the Renaissance performance of poetry.
