KRONOS PROTOS is the second piece of a trilogy (Nomos Protos, Logos Protos). The title indicates the structure of this composition: Kronos Protos = The first, the undivisible time.
The piece does not organize singular tones into larger units, but it takes larger units as its starting point, interconnecting them to extremely polyphonic, polymorph complexes. Within these complexes the basic ingredients constantly alter their inner consistency creating by thus variations of variations. The result is an extremely kaleidoscopic, sparkling structure.
KRONOS PROTOS was composed in 1995-1996 for the ‘Ensemble Köln’, but could not be premiered by them because shortly before its baptism, the Ensemble has dissolved. The piece not.
